This post contains the status of my favorite new characters in the Saimoe tournaments from K-ON!, Saki, Toradora, and others. Notable wins are listed only. Placements (only for top 16) are based on rankings for Best Moe and vote counts in the round they lost for Saimoe. They’ll be updated if official placings or better placings ever come up.

Result:
Taiga (Toradora!) 1077, Nodoka (Saki) 998
Nodoka has received 998 votes which would be the most votes received in the tournament to date if it wasn’t for the fact she lost. Nodoka couldn’t handle her 3rd straight Rie character as Taiga beats Nodoka with well over 1000 votes and advances to the finals. She could very well take Japan as she took Korea already. Again, Taiga for champion!
Outside note: I could also say that Taiga is better than both Nagi and Louise since she’s the only one of them to beat Nodoka. There’s two ways I can see if Taiga is better than Shana. Let them go against each other or have Nodoka go up against Shana. Of course this won’t happen.

Congratulations to Shana and Hina for advancing. One of them is likely to take the tiara.
Unofficial, but Suiseiseki takes 16th place and Shinku takes 15th. Unless there will be a matchup between these two.
And Saki loses to Rei by over 400. I have a feeling that if Saki was in ISML, they’ll be like Bamboo Blade; they did well to make it to the final rounds of Saimoe, but did poorly in the league. Kirino and Tamaki both made it to the quarterfinals last year, but their records were only 6-57 and 7-56 respectively. Not very good records.
By the way, Louise is leading the relegation tournament. Her status is different from the others. I’ll check that out later.
UPDATE: I finally had the mind to look into the relegation tournament. This is a tournament where the top 14 characters below .500 compete for a chance in ISML 2010. The top 5 characters at the end will advance to the 2010 ISML preliminary tournament. I think Louise is already locked as one of the top 5.

Result:
Yui (K-ON!) 873, Koromo (Saki) 819
KOROMO!
Yui defeats Koromo as expected. Congratulations to Yui for advancing to the semis. Also, congratulations to Koromo for keeping up with someone as powerful as Yui. Koromo was actually ahead of Yui for a short time and was able to give Yui a challenge. Too bad she’s out. I’ll miss her.

Although Yui eliminated Koromo, I will be cheering for Yui for her next match as she’s still fighting for Mio and Azusa. She’s still my 2nd favorite to win. Read more…

Mihoko (Saki) 660, Yuuki (Saki) 613
Tacos goes down. Mihoko advances. Close match. May be an upset. That’s still alright since Mihoko is better. Read more…

Result:
Nodoka (Saki) 910, Louise (ZnT) 716
Louise couldn’t take out a 3rd Saki character, especially if it’s one who won against Nagi. Nodoka advances as she defeats her 2nd consecutive Rie character. Nagi, who lost by 16, was much tougher than Louise who lost by almost 200, so maybe I can say Louise lost to Nagi.
She now faces Taiga, another Rie character, which will prove to be the toughest of them, if not her toughest match to date.
By the way, I’m going for Taiga all the way, so I’ll be against Nodoka this time around.
If only Shana was here. Read more…

Result:
Taiga (Toradora!) 812, Isumi (HnG) 736
Taiga for champion!
Palmtop Tiger wins and is one step closer to being champion! This match was closer than expected, but Isumi just couldn’t pull it off. Taiga’s next match could be a difficult one. Either she goes up against Nodoka, a Saki favorite, or Louise, her predecessor.

Result:
Nodoka (Saki) 890, Nagi (HnG) 874
Nodoka avenges Saki by eliminating Nagi by only 16 votes. This match was really close. It even looked like Nagi was gonna win.
Now we have 4 Saki characters in the top 8 which beats the record for the amount of characters representing the same series in the top 8 (Clannad held that record with 3 last year). The list of those who made it is after the jump. Read more…
