Exhibition matches featured characters that participated in previous Saimoe tournaments (very early ones or those who lost round 1) from not-so-well-known anime. There were even some from hentai.

Aside from that, the relegation matches should end now. Congratulations to Mikoto, Louise, Mai, Sayuri, and Ayu for being eligible for the prelims. Too bad for Reimu.

Not much to say here. Hoping Mikoto and Reimu get into the prelims. Kanon girls are good too. I accepted the fact Louise will be in.

Exhibition matches are a complete mystery. I am only shown the pictures of the contestant, but their names and anime are not given. I only tracked down one of them seeing the animation before. Point is, I do not know any of them, so I abstained from all matches. More on this when they are revealed.

ISML 2009 ends today (at least the main tournament). Hinagiku has beaten Shana by 11 points once again upsetting the top seed. With that, Hinagiku is crowned the champion of ISML 2009. Congratulation Hinagiku! Shana had a good run here with this being her third loss for the entire year, but she couldn’t win where it mattered most. Read more…

We have Shana going up against Hinagiku again, but she’s back more powerful than before after a fresh OVA is released (it was good too) and after destroying Tomoyo last time. Read more…

ISML 5th Round of Elimination Results

Fifth Round of Elimination – Monday, 26 October 2009
Match # Contestant Name < Votes Votes > Contestant Name Venue
3036 Sakagami Tomoyo (CL) 1156 1034 Nagato Yuki (SHnY) Epiphaneia
3037 Hiiragi Kagami (LS) 1065 1111 Aisaka Taiga (TD) Omega
R57 Kamio Misuzu (AIR) 1026 1054 Index Prohibitorum (TAMI) Tōkyō
R58 Minase Nayuki (KN) 1087 971 Chii (CH) New York
R59 Evangeline McDowell (NG) 830 1279 Kawasumi Mai (KN) Buenos Aires
R60 Hakurei Reimu (TMK) 952 1147 Louise Vallière (ZnT) Cairo
R61 Kurata Sayuri (KN) 1077 1010 Yagami Hayate (MSLN) Moscow
R62 Vita (MSLN) 902 1076 Katagiri Yūhi (AISS) London
R63 Misaka Mikoto (TAMI) 1191 956 Tsukimiya Ayu (KN) Sydney
X7 Senō Natsuru (KMPF) 709 1268 Sakurano Kurimu (SnI) Madrid

The runner-up of last year is eliminated. Tomoyo defeats Yuki limiting her only to 4th place. Next, she gets to take on Shana. Three characters remain in the tournament.

Taiga beats Kagami again. After a 3 point win in Best Moe, Taiga beats 3rd place of last year Kagami by less than 50. She finishes with 7th place while Kagami gets 8th.

Kurimu pounds that Kampfer girl by over 500 votes. In the exhibition match, Seno was no match for Kurimu. Can Kurimu become a contestant of ISML 2010? Looks possible, even with the reduction to 50 characters.

Next up: Elimination Round 6: Shana vs. Tomoyo, 5th place match: Fate vs. Kyou, other matches.

ISML 5th Round of Elimination

Picks:

ARENA 01: [Sakagami Tomoyo] Nagato Yuki

ARENA 02: Hiiragi Kagami [Aisaka Taiga]

ARENA 03: Kamio Misuzu [Index Prohibitorum]

ARENA 04: [Minase Nayuki] Chii

ARENA 05: Evangeline McDowell [Kawasumi Mai]

ARENA 06: [Hakurei Reimu] Louise Vallière

ARENA 07: [Kurata Sayuri] Yagami Hayate

ARENA 08: [Vita] Katagiri Yūhi

ARENA 09: [Misaka Mikoto] Tsukimiya Ayu

ARENA 10: Senō Natsuru [Sakurano Kurimu]

The end is near! Four characters remain. After this match, there will be only 3. Today, Tomoyo is up against Yuki, last year’s runner up.  Both were eliminated by Hinagiku who’s currently the only character not in the elimination matches. Whoever wins will be up against #1 Shana. Yuki has the advantage here, but I am going for Tomoyo.

For 7th place, we have a rematch of the Best Moe finals: Kagami vs. Taiga. Could Taiga pull off another win against Kagami, or will she avenge her 3 point loss. Going for Taiga for 7th place.

Lastly, we have our exhibition matchup between Seno and Kurimu. For me, this is one-sided since I am not watching Kampfer. Even if I did, I would probably go for Kurimu anyways. She is currently my favorite character that is new this season (The only new shows this season that I’m watching are Seitokai no Ichizon and Kobato. The rest are second seasons or spinoffs).

ISML Third Round Results- Upset Alert!

Third Round of Revelation – Thursday, 22 October 2009
Match # Contestant Name < Votes Votes > Contestant Name Venue
3033 Shana (SnS) 1395 1677 Katsura Hinagiku (HnG) Chromosphaira
3034 Suzumiya Haruhi (SHnY) 1683 1391 Tōsaka Rin (FSN) Rho
3035 Suigintou (RM) 1398 1625 Asahina Mikuru (SHnY) Tau
R50 Misaka Mikoto (TAMI) 1478 1444 Louise Vallière (ZnT) Tōkyō
R51 Index Prohibitorum (TAMI) 1512 1334 Minase Nayuki (KN) New York
R52 Evangeline McDowell (NG) 1279 1553 Kurata Sayuri (KN) Buenos Aires
R53 Chii (CH) 1357 1539 Kawasumi Mai (KN) Cairo
R54 Hakurei Reimu (TMK) 1437 1171 Vita (MSLN) Moscow
R55 Yagami Hayate (MSLN) 1404 1340 Kamio Misuzu (AIR) London
R56 Katagiri Yūhi (AISS) 1497 1397 Tsukimiya Ayu (KN) Sydney
X6 Hanato Kobato (KOBA) 1451 1242 Shirai Kuroko (RLGN) Madrid

Shana’s winning streak has ended at 57. Hinagiku upsets Shana sending her to the loser’s bracket. I’m disappointed, but I gotta hand it to Hinagiku who ranks 11th. Hinagiku may be favored to take the tiara now that she secured her spot in the finals. I think the only way for her to lose is for her to lose the championship match twice.

However, Shana’s not out yet. If she can win in the loser’s bracket against Yuki or Tomoyo (the only other character to beat her in the entire tournament), she can earn a rematch against Hinagiku. Shana is my favorite to win by the way. She has also been sparked just now because of the recent OVA.

As of now, there are only 4 characters left fighting for the tiara with Hina most favored. How will this finish?

Picks: Shana > Hinagiku > Tomoyo > Yuki (sorry.)

Predictions: Hinagiku > Shana > Yuki > Tomoyo

Haruhi takes 9th place as she defeats Rin by a large amount. Go Haruhi! So Rin takes 10th, Mikuru takes 11th, and Suigintou takes 12th.

Finally, Kobato wins the exhibition matchup. That’s all good. I originally voted for Kuroko, but recently I started watching Kobato, and I liked what I saw. Actually, I would have voted for Kobato if I watched earlier.

Next up: Yuki vs. Tomoyo in elimination, Taiga vs. Kagami for 7th (rematch of Best Moe finals?), and others
